What To Do After The Storm Has Passed

Man inputting information on iPad while another man sets up drying equipment. Our technicians work together to come up with an comprehensive remediation plan for your property.

A storm can strike at any time, sometimes leaving behind unexpected damage. It can be very confusing for homeowners to know what to do afterwards. Here are some tips to help guide you during the remediation process:

  • Your safety is always the number one priority. Only enter your property if it is safe to do so. If there are downed power lines, gas leaks, or the structure of your home is unstable DO NOT ENTER. If everything checks out, still wear appropriate shoes to avoid any sort of injuries from broken glass, exposed nails, etc.
  • Assuming you can safely enter the property, take pictures and create a list of what has been damaged. You might need it for insurance purposes later. Contact your insurance agent and tell them what happened. Remember that most insurance policies limit the time to file a claim.
  • Call us at SERVPRO of Vero Beach to inspect the damage and provide an estimate to get your home to its pre-damaged condition.
