Spotting Water Damage on Your Vero Beach, FL Ceiling

1/18/2021 (Permalink)

Paint on ceiling and wall damaged from water The discoloration on the ceiling and rippling effect on the wall are clear signs of water damage.

A water damaged to your ceiling comes in many forms. What’s important to know is you MUST locate and repair the issue causing the water damage before you can repair the ceiling. If the source of the water damage is not identified, the issue will keep reoccurring. A delayed response to repairing water damage in your ceiling or other parts of your home could result in more problems. For example, water damage that is left unattended for long periods of time becomes “standing water”. This standing water creates humidity which can weaken the structures of the home and also result in an overrun of mold growth. This is exactly why water damage should never be ignored. Some signs of water damage to your ceiling include:

Water stains- One of the most obvious of indicators for a water damaged ceiling. Normally these stains look “rusty” or a “brownish” color.

Swelling or Bubbling- When the ceiling looks like it is bulging out, it means there is an accumulation of moisture into drywall. This can be dangerous at times because if the water continually collects, the ceiling can collapse.

Sweating- Discoloration that usually looks a little darker than the paint and presents itself during the beginning of a water leak. If left unattended, the excess moisture or humidity can creep into the ceiling and walls turning into water stains, bubbling, etc.

Mold Growth- Mold is very dangerous for people and needs to be handled as urgently as possible by an experienced mold remediation specialist.
