Boarded Up Homes Can Be A Fire Hazard

A fire broke out in a residential home and because the house had certain main areas boarded up, they had to break a window to get the water in to douse the flames. Florida is definitely known as a state where hurricanes pass through often and many residents board up their homes to protect them from potential rain, wind and projectiles. However, leaving the shutters up for the entire hurricane season is not recommended by the fire department. It highly reduces the accessibility the firemen have to be able to enter homes to save lives and extinguish the fires more quickly. I know it may seem like added work to remove shutters and then have to put back on should another storm follow the same track as before, but ones life is definitely worth the hassle.
